About Hal:

I was born in Kewanee, IL in 1950, which makes me over a half a century old. I am the son of a small town family physician. I moved to Omaha, NE for my advanced education. I came to Kansas City in 1975 to do my internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke's Hospital on the Country Club Plaza. I fell in love with the Kansas City area and have been living in Overland Park since 1979, when I started my OB/GYN practice. I have raised my children here and now have grandchildren living in the area.

My practice is limited to gynecology only. I have published articles on the diagnosis and treatment of urinary incontinence and also on abnormal cervical cytology.

I enjoy offering opinions and thoughts and working through problems concerning women and their healthcare needs. I feel it is very important to make sure women take an active part in decision-making when it comes to health problems that they may encounter. My practice is very informal and I have a very low-key informal attitude towards healthcare. I feel that my "small-town son-of-a-family-doctor" roots have made me a very good listener and very attentive physician to the needs of women.

I love spending leisure time at the Lake of the Ozarks where all my family members return each summer for fun and festivities.

Dr. Hal Younglove has been awarded 2012 Best Doctors in Kansas City, as featured in "Kansas City Business Journal".

About Mark:

As a native of Kansas City, I graduated from Shawnee Mission South HS. I have enjoyed delivering thousands of babies over the last 34 years and have an interest in high-risk obstetric patients. In addition, when it comes to gynecology, I particularly enjoy minimally-invasive (laparoscopic) surgery and am very interested in all aspects of menopausal therapy.

My wife, Kathy, and I have four grown children who have blessed us with four terrific grandchildren. I really enjoy traveling (especially cruising) as well as snow skiing, scuba diving and working out.

I was born in 1962 in Kansas City and have lived here all my life. After graduating from Barstow High School in 1981, I went directly into the six-year medical program at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. I subsequently did my residency from 1987 to 1991 in OB/GYN, also at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. I have been practicing with The Women's Healthcare Group since graduating from residency in 1991 as an OB/GYN. I currently serve as president of the group. I offer a broad range of treatment options for women, including gynecology and obstetrics, with a special interest in laparoscopic procedures, laprascopically assistanced vaginal hysterectomy and da Vinci robotically assisted surgery. I find this very rewarding.

Outside of my medical practice, I live happily in south Johnson County with my wife, Janice, who is a pediatrician, and our two daughters, Michelle and Melissa. I try to go snow skiing once a year, given the opportunity, and have foolishly taken up the sport of golf in the last several years. Most of all, I really enjoy my job and the fact that I get to help people every day.

My practice includes office and surgical gynecology and obstetrics. My practice style emphasizes educating women regarding their health so they can fully participate in maintaining their health, both preventively and in coping with problems which arise. I feel patient involvement is essential to leading a long, healthy life.

My time outside of the office is filled with my children's activities including lacrosse and volleyball. We enjoy traveling, particularly to Sarasota, FL where my parents spent winters for many years.

Education:

  • University of Kansas, B.A. in Women's Studies-1997
  • University of Kansas School of Medicine-2001
  • University of Missouri-Kansas City, OB/GYN residency
  • Truman Medical Center, residency-2005

Office Hours:

  • Monday - Lawrence
  • Tuesday - Overland Park
  • Thursday - Overland Park
  • Friday - Overland Park

About Courtney:

As a daughter of a gynecologist and the granddaughter of a small town family physician, I knew that someday I too would enter the field of medicine. During my college years I took all of the courses required to gain entry into medical school, but also divided my time among a variety of liberal arts classes, eventually earning my degree in women's studies. During medical school, I found that the area of women's health held the greatest interest for me and chose a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. I spent four years in Kansas City, MO learning as much as possible about women's health. After completing my residency training in June of 2005, I joined this practice and plan to stay in Overland Park for the remainder of my career.

I have three little boys, Connor, Sawyer and Tanner. When I am not working, you can find me hanging out with my boys, either playing at the park or playing cars. I am very family-oriented. I have a lot of family members in the area and enjoy spending time with them. In the few moments I have to myself each week, I enjoy reading books and scrap booking.

A large percentage of my practice right now is obstetrics, which I enjoy immensely. Having recently had three children myself, I feel a special bond with my pregnant patients and enjoy being a part of their growing families. I have a special interest in preconception counseling and educating women about the normal changes that occur with pregnancy. I also enjoy the field of adolescent gynecology, as it too allows me to educate women about their bodies. I have a fairly informal practice and try to encourage my patients to take an active part in their healthcare decision making.

  • University of Louisville, Pre-Med-1995
  • Vanderbilt University School of Medicine-1999
  • Wright State University School of Medicine, residency training-1999-2003
  • Wright Patterson Air Force Base, administrative chief resident, OB/GYN combined program

Office Hours:

  • Monday - Overland Park
  • Tuesday - Overland Park
  • Wednesday - Overland Park
  • Friday - Lawrence

About Mike:

I was born and raised in the small town of Van Wert, OH. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University on a business scholarship. After working for nearly ten years in business, I experienced medicine from a very personal perspective - as a parent at my own child's bedside. This experience motivated me to pursue medicine as a career, and I feel it has made me a more caring physician.

I received my degree in medicine from Vanderbilt University in 1999 where I graduated first in my class, and was voted as the graduate that fellow classmates would most like to have as their own personal physician. I completed my residency at Wright State University, where I was co-administrative chief with Dr. Moulton, and received the John J. Halki Exemplary-Physician award.

After residency, I served in the Air Force as staff OB/GYN at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. I also held a faculty teaching position at the Uniformed Health Sciences University School of Medicine, and was appointed by the Air Force Surgeon General to serve on a national healthcare committee. I am board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

I joined The Women's Health Care Group in 2007 after completing my Air Force commitment. My practice consists of general office and surgical gynecology, treatment of urinary incontinence, and obstetrics. There are more treatment options available today than ever before, and I enjoy working closely with my patients to explore all options. I am a good communicator, and it is important to me that patients understand their healthcare decisions.

Outside of work, I live in Leawood with my wife, Barbara, and my three children, Alex, Lindsey, and Ben. My personal time is largely spent with family activities and attending my children's multitude of sporting events. My wife is an avid runner, and we all love snow skiing. We love living in Kansas City and plan to stay here for the remainder of my career.

Office Hours:

About Emily:

I grew up in Great Bend, KS and attended a private arts college in Winfield, KS where I met my husband, Brian. After graduating from the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine, we set out on our first big adventure, and farthest location from family. We moved to Temple, TX where we spent four years so I could complete my residency training at Scott and White Memorial Hospital. There I received a comprehensive gynecologic surgery experience, including advanced laparoscopy and vaginal surgery, and cared for high-risk obstetric patients. While in Texas our family grew from two, to three, with the addition of an almost 120 pound Italian mastiff, Niko, and more recently to four, with the birth of our beautiful daughter Lillian.

I am excited to return to Kansas and once again be near family and reconnect with friends in the Kansas City area. I love reading light hearted books that make me laugh out loud; Janet Evanovich is a riot. I love water skiing as well and can't wait to introduce Lillian to the lake and boating. Having been spoiled by 60 to 70 degree winter days in Texas, I'm sure I will be easily recognized in the winter on a "cold" 40 degree day bundled up in a down coat.

It is important to me that my patients participate in decision-making processes and feel comfortable enough with me to ask any questions. I look forward to forming long-lasting relationships with my patients.

About Kelly:

I am excited to be a part of the team at the Women’s Healthcare Group. I joined the group in September 2012 after spending 3 years practicing in suburban Denver, CO. Kansas however has always been my home. I was born and raised in Shawnee. After graduating from Notre Dame de Sion high school I pursued my undergraduate degree in chemistry from Saint Louis University. I was fortunate enough to come back home to Kansas City to attend the University of Kansas Medical School. My residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed at UMKC where I served as the Administrative Chief Resident. After 3 years in Colorado and 2 children we decided to move back home to be near family.

My career has allowed me to develop a comprehensive practice that includes a passion for adolescent care, general obstetrics, high risk pregnancies, and infertility treatments for pregnancy. I also do in office procedures such as ablations for heavy bleeding and Essure, a form of permanent sterilization. I welcome all new patients. I want to partner with patients and help them play an active role in their care and decisions during pregnancy and with gynecologic care.

When not at work you can find me at home spending time with my husband, a local High School teacher, and my two young kids. We are lucky to have a large extended family in the area and enjoy spending time with them. I am a “die-hard” KU basketball fan. My husband and I love to travel with our family and make it a point to return to the mountains of Colorado every chance we get to reconnect with the beautiful outdoors and fresh mountain air.

About Valery:

I completed my undergraduate degree in nursing at Truman State University and then went on to graduate from Vanderbilt University in 2004 with my master's as a certified nurse-midwife. I completed clinical training during my master's program at Vanderbilt University Family Practice in Fort Campbell, KY, and Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI. My various educational and work experiences have given me a wide variety of birthing knowledge.

I decided to become a nurse-midwife so that I could not only help women bring their children into the world but also because I enjoy learning about and teaching women about various health issues. Being a certified nurse-midwife provides me a unique opportunity to teach women about the normal and expected changes and experiences during pregnancy.

I was born in Kansas City but spent most of my life in St. Louis. I am enthusiastic about living in the Kansas City area once again. As I establish a practice with The Women's Healthcare Group, I hope to focus on the well-being and wellness of women throughout their lifespan. My role as a nurse-midwife is dedicated to helping moms develop healthy pregnancies, as well as to listen, advise, and provide education while supporting them and their families.

In my free time, I enjoy attending rock concerts with my musician husband, spending time with our friends and family, and when the mood strikes me, I also enjoy creating my own jewelry. My husband and I have a cat named Pumpkin and we recently added a new puppy to our family. He is a Cavapoo named Baxter who looks like a tiny Ewok from Star Wars. Most recently, in 2012, we added beautiful baby girl, Violet, to our family. She is the center of our world now and keeps us laughing and smiling daily.

About Michaela:

My journey to midwifery began in 2000 when I accepted a position at a local urban core hospital in labor and delivery as an RN. I spent 9 years there learning the medical and nursing side of birth. I found that women not only needed strong professionals at their side during birth but also throughout the pregnancy as well as before and after. I was drawn to the need for education and support. This lead me to seek a career as a midwife. I have been practicing in Kansas City, MO as a CNM since 2009. I especially enjoy spending time with patients providing education and a majority of my early practice focused on adolescent care and first time parents. I am so pleased to be joining The Women's Healthcare Group and this wonderful group of midwives and physicians.

Outside my professional aspirations, I have four beautiful children and a very supportive husband. We enjoy the outdoors as much as possible and have recently created a hobby out of camping. My school age kids are very involved in extracurricular activities and I love watching them participate in sporting events. They keep us very busy!
